Carolyn Miles, proprietor of Atrium Gallery, has chosen photography as the medium for the gallery's next exhibition, "Through a Lens Clearly," which opens tomorrow, Friday, March 13. The exhibition features the work of established photographer and recently retired architect Jerome Hawkins. Hawkins learned the technical side of photography by reading everything he could, exposing lots of film, and spending endless hours in the darkroom. He uses the same tools he did as an architect – scale, rhythm, balance, pattern, texture and light – when composing his stunning images.

My attempts to capture the photographer's gorgeous work, above, pale in comparison to the real thing. Therefore, I highly recommend that you stop by tomorrow evening between 6 and 8 p.m., enjoy a glass of wine and see Jerome Hawkins' work yourself. There will be an informal artist's talk too, around 6:30 to 6:45 p.m. "Through a Lens Clearly" will remain on view until May 2.

Your photography is so so good. I think you should have a show… or maybe sell some of your work or notecards at the CWE Flea. Lyda
