How frosty does it have to be to enjoy a comforting cup of hot chocolate? For me, not very.
The inspiration for this post came about on a recent bitterly cold Sunday afternoon, when I suggested we get out of the house and go have hot chocolate somewhere. Since then I've sampled eight different versions offered in CWE restaurants and coffee houses (tough work, right?), and have come to the conclusion that the reward is as much about getting out, the ambiance of the establishment, and the view from within to enjoy this perfect antidote to winter.
Bissinger's, 32 Maryland Plaza, $3 and $4.50.
Crepes: etc., 52 Maryland Plaza, tops hot chocolate with a homemade marshmallow, $3.45.
Kopperman's, 386 N. Euclid, froths Ghirardelli chocolate with milk, $3.
Find Pi's hot chocolate, $2.75, at the cozy coffee bar tucked in the back room.
Starbucks, 4656 Maryland Avenue, "tall" hot chocolate, $2.75, above.
Coffee Cartel's, 2 Maryland Plaza, hot chocolate is served with whipped cream, $3.15, above.
Hot chocolate, $3.50, is served in a tall glass at Wildflower, 4 S. Euclid.
Nathalie, left, at Bowood Farms' restaurant Cafe Osage, 4605 Olive Street.
Cafe Osage's hot chocolate, right, is $3.50.

Best. Post. Ever!
