CWEnder & author Antony John, pictured with Left Bank Books' teen/children's book coordinator Sara Holt, was at the bookstore recently to launch Firebrand, the second in his "Elemental" series of dystopian novels for young adults. Antony's previous YA novels include Five Flavors of Dumb & Busted. Judging from the informed questions from the large audience present at the launch, Antony has a devoted following. The audience included YA author Heather Brewer (Chronicles of Vladimir Tod), YA blogger Christine Hickey, CWEnder & author Fiona Paul, who also publishes under pseudonym Paula Stokes (Secrets of Eternal Rose).
While the author is extremely humorous, it was his young daughter, seated in the front row, that got Antony's wife Audrey Odom, left, (Asst. Professor of Pediatrics & Molecular Microbiology at Children's Hospital) laughing. Just as Antony asked if there were any more questions, his daughter pipped up "NO!" At that Antony said, "And she's the only one who will have to go straight to bed when this is over."
