My guess is that, for years, many "wish lists" of hoped-for additions to the mix in the CWE included a Thai restaurant. Well, I am happy to report that wishes do sometimes come true. Thai 202 opened recently at 235 N. Euclid, (just north of the library, in the space formerly occupied by Audi-Ks). Thai 202 is owned by the family who operate Blue Elephant Royal Thai Cuisine in Clayton.
The menu, show above, is extensive. Dishes are prepared quickly and are quite delicious. Judging by the large number of people seen dining in or carrying out, Thai 202 has become a popular spot in the short time it has been open.
Jen Maclean, a new neighbor and recent transplant from Connecticut, and I ordered two stir fried dishes, Pad prik, above, and Pad basil, below (though it could be the other way around), $7.95 each. Next time I'll try the spicy green curry ($8.95) Catherine Neville wrote about in her glowing review (read it here) in the October issue of Feast.
Thai 202, 235 N. Euclid, Sun to Thurs. 11:30-10 p.m., Fri. & Sat. 11:30-1 a.m. For those reluctant to leave the couch while the Cardinals battle it out with the Nationals, Thai 202 offers home delivery, (314) 367-2002.
I have been here twice for take-out. The first time I brought home two curries, an appetizer and a salad. Everything was wonderful! The second time I picked up some Pad Thai. Once home and I had opened the food I found a wad of very sticky noodles, 3 slivers of green onion, no peanuts and exceptionally dry chicken sitting on top of the noodles with a sliver of old and discolored lime. There was little sauce on the noodles and the dish did not have any real flavor. It went into the trash.
Thanks, this review and the pics of the food were very helpful!
So glad to have a Thai option for dinner! I will try it asap. Maybe tonight.
