This evening's showing of "The Artist" and related activities have been postponed until next Wednesday because of the prediction of inclement weather.
Frances Thompson, Marketing Director of Maryland Plaza, has pulled out all the stops and then some for the final movie of the "Movies on the Plaza 2012 Season." Get in the groove by dressing in 1920s costume for The Artist—there is a prize for "Best Attire." Music and dancing ("Hip to the Jive") will be provided by St. Louis Cotton Club and Motion Express/Move. 10denza, 44 Maryland Plaza, is loaning a display window to CWE's Kelly Reding of Dauphine Vintage to exhibit examples of her fabulous collection of '20s clothing.
The festivities start at 7, the movie begins at 8:15. I've helped at the reception desk for the last couple of movies and have had great fun telling people that there is no charge for this event. Those who are new to the neighborhood seem kind of stunned with the generosity of the wonderful sponsors (see list on poster)—free popcorn, Stella Artois beer, and coupons from some of the shops–along with the movie in such a lovely setting. And you might bring along a folding chair just in case there is a large crowd Wednesday night. See you there!
