CWE’S TRINITY CHURCH HOSTS ANNUAL BLESSING OF THE BIKES, HOLY RIDES AND FUN KIDS’ BIKE OBSTACLE COURSE ON JULY 13 at 8AM
On Saturday, July 13 (2019) beginning at 8am, Trinity Church in the Central West End (600 North Euclid at Washington Avenue) invites all area cyclists to bring their bikes into sacred space for Trinity’s annual Blessing of the Bikes 2019.
In addition, kids 6 years and under are invited to enjoy a professionally designed and managed bike obstacle course in the closed-off NW Trinity parking lot – designed with safety in mind for new riders and a fun challenge for those more experienced. Strider bikes and helmets will be available.
Following a brief blessing in the church sanctuary will be two optional “holy rides” of varying challenges on marked routes. All ages and experience levels are welcome for the blessing, food, fellowship, and the following rides: The Bishop’s Bell Buster (40 Miles) and The Parish Processional (24 Miles). Trinity Pastor Jon Stratton will lead the 40-mile ride.
Along the multi-mile routes will be refreshments, restrooms and encouragement at the following participating parishes until the longest ride concludes at 1:30 p.m. – Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion (University City); St. John’s (Tower Grove); St. Paul’s (Carondelet); and St. Peter’s (Ladue).
Trinity will offer a raffle for a framed woodcut image of Madonna del Ghisallo, the patroness of cyclists. Custom-designed t-shirts in adult and children’s sizes will be available for purchase, with all proceeds supporting Trinity’s Food Ministry. Special thanks to Mike’s Bikes and St. Michael School of Clayton for their support.
Trinity’s Blessing of the Bikes is part of the church’s ongoing outreach of fun and fellowship to its immediate neighborhood and beyond. The church’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram links are featured on the church website at trinitycwe.org.
