The final CWE Flea of the year is scheduled for this Saturday from 9 to 2. If you missed the first three be sure to stop by. There has been quite a bit of buzz created around this brand-new CWE outdoor market – comments such as "it's so upscale," "it's my favorite new thing in the neighborhood," "there is such a great variety of vendors who are all so interesting to talk to," etc.
The photos on this post were taken at the start of the October 5th market. Jonathan Parker, right, proprietor of Parker's Table, and Isabel Hohl, who works at the store and staffs the charming little display truck, were photographed setting up their wares before the market opened.
Amy Mittelstadt and I signed up three new vendors to join us this weekend – Lisa Thompson who redesigns vintage coats under her label MC:67; Photographer Jennifer Barhoumy who is bringing her beautiful nature photography; and Dahven White who creates gorgeous handmade felted items.
Dawna Wharton, upper right, of Borough Vintage will stock her booth with more of her fabulous collection of vintage clothing.
Hannah Wingate, left, of FlyChicks will be back with several styles of handmade bags she makes out of colorful fabrics. Her boyfriend, also shown in the photograph, added dog collars to his line of handmade wallets after he saw how many people came to the CWE Flea with their canine companions.
Jeweler Christiane Danna, barely visible behind the mirror, will be at the CWE Flea once again with her handcrafted jewelry She's sharing a booth with jeweler Jennifer Walker. Both jewelers have shops in the building where the Flea is held, 449 N. Euclid. Hasina Starks, another tenant in the building, will be back as well. Hasina has a line of face and body products and a line of clothing she brings down from Chicago where she has an interior design business.
Since Kristen Southworth of Shiloh Hill Farms cannot be there this Saturday (all of her helpers are away for the weekend), she is dropping off produce from her farm in advance for us to sell. We're going to set up a produce table and pretend we know what we are doing.
Petree Powell will be back with her collection of interesting antiques, furniture and collectibles; and Celtic Chi (Jen Cullam-Guss) who was in the September 21 Flea will be returning with her jewelry, accessories and decor she makes from objects she finds at estate sales. She enjoys giving new life to old items.
Amy and I have also enjoyed giving life to this new event in the neighborhood. Over the winter we plan to continue the conversation about keeping the CWE Flea going next Spring. We'd love to hear from you with any suggestions. In the meantime, stop by Saturday. You'll love it!
