After a hiatus of several years lululemon has returned to the Central West End and opened an inviting, bright and airy store at 13 Maryland Plaza. From 2009-10 lululemon athletica occupied a space at 234 N. Euclid. It was the first store the Canadian company opened in St. Louis, but it proved to be too small for the extras lululemon offers its customers – yoga classes and other special events in-house. The store closed and moved to larger quarters in Plaza Frontenac. It says something quite marvelous about the CWE that lululemon decided to keep its store at Plaza Frontenac and open a second one back where it started.
A flyer on the counter titled "Root Down to Rise Up" states that lululemon is "proud to be returning to our saint louis roots in the central west end and would enjoy nothing more than to celebrate with our neighbors. 'Root down' and be inspired as we embark on this amazing journey together."
They are celebrating the return with several activities scheduled for this opening weekend. Events include: An opening party which was held at 'Scape Restaurant this evening; complimentary yoga at the Chase Hotel's Starlight Roof in the morning (9 to 10 a.m.); and Sunday morning's 'run your ground' featuring a 3-mile run from the store on Maryland Plaza to Northwest Coffee at Laclede and Boyle. The run is scheduled from 9 to 10 a.m.
