Here are "before the storm" pictures of the second CWE Flea last Saturday. There are no "after" pictures because Mother Nature had the last laugh and everything got soaked. Just as the crowd was starting to build and I was thinking how totally charming and different all the booths were, Mother Nature took charge and roared in with heavy wind and rain. Beqi Brinkhorst's (seated above) entire tent upended throwing all of her handmade clothing and jewelry to the ground.
Artist Maggie Wheelock's charming booth was decorated with handmade bird garlands and an adorable twig mobile that was snapped up as soon as she decided to put a price tag on it. She'll be back at the Flea with Union Studio partner Mary Beth Bussen in September.
Kristen Southworth sold out of most of her produce by the time the storm hit.
Two views of Tim Reiter's fabulous collection of "New to You" antiques and collectibles, above and below. We hope Tim will join us again sometime soon.
Darin Torrence, who shared a booth with Flychicks handbag creator Hannah Wingate (not pictured), brought handmade craft beer wallets, $17, or 2 for $30. He'll be back at the CWE Flea July 5.
Gather Studios proprietor Karen Weidert sent a photo of an old fan in Tim's "New To You" booth, above, and owls, below, from her terrific brand-new shop at 449 N. Euclid (rear), which is currently open only when there is a CWE Flea.
One of Flychicks fabric bags, above, caught my eye, as well as an adorable onesie from Magpie Design, $15.
It appears that we'll have a full complement of vendors July 5, including several who are new to the Flea. The neighborhood will be jumping with Fair St. Louis in Forest Park, so before or after you head over to the park stop by the CWE Flea at 449 N. Euclid at Washington.
