While the winter weather has been anything but predictable this year, one constant is the ongoing opportunity to stop in one of the neighborhood galleries and enjoy the exhibitions inside. A case in point is Harry Roseman's charming "22 x 26" photograph, "Form Follows Function" above, featured in Atrium Gallery's Wintry Mix exhibition.
To celebrate Wintry Mix stop by tomorrow evening, Friday, February 6, for a "hot grog" reception from 6 to 8 p.m. at Atrium Gallery, 4814 Washington.
Carl Goldhagen's haunting 29 3/8 x 37" photo emulsion on lead piece, shown above, is titled "Natural Bridge."
Other artists featured in Wintry Mix include works by Lika Mutal, whose black granite and onyx sculpture is titled "Small Stone of Origin"; two works by Francisca Sutil, "Untitled – Spaces," oil a l'essence on paper; and far right, Kirk Pedersen's "Florence," acrylic/tape/paper on canvas.
The current exhibition at Atrium Gallery, 4618 Washington, will remain on view until March 7th. Gallery hours are Thurs. through Sat. 10 to 6, Tues. & Weds. by appointment, (314) 367-1076.
Duane Reed Gallery's Winter Group Show includes "Cousins," a collaborative work by ceramist Linda Lighton and Mark Southerland, a jazz musician and metal smith.
Also at Duane Reed are Mark Douglas's photographs of four abstract tomes titled from left top, "Book 105 and 121," bottom row "Book 43 and 7." Douglas is a professor of graphic design and photography at Fontbonne University.
Another collaboration between artists Linda Lighton and Mark Southerland, "Chet's Bootleg," is shown right.
