"Dimensional," a group show of sculpture and other 3-dimensional works by notable national artists (see list above) opens tomorrow at Atrium Gallery, 4814 Washington Avenue.
Proprietor Carolyn Miles explained the impetus behind the exhibition. "There isn't a huge amount of 3-dimensional art exhibited in St. Louis galleries," she explained, "and since Atrium Gallery has good depth in this area, I wanted to showcase it."
One of the pieces that will be on view is sculptor Jim Nickel's "Red Oak Venture Piece #38," above.
Bob Emser's dramatic stainless steel and poly carbonate "A Great Notion" is shown on wall upper left, and the artist's stainless steel and copper "Without Making a Sound" is shown upper right. Artist Bruce Beasley's cast bronze "Foray" is on table above.
Jim Nickel's 35" x 65" x 16" "Ting," sculpted of Baltic birch is photographed above and below.
Another view of Beasley's "Foray" in different light above, Beasley's "Upthrust," middle, and on wall, John Schwartzkopf's delicate "Wedged Arc," created from paperstone, mahogany and various woods.
"Dimensional" opens at Atrium Gallery, 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, September 25, 4814 Washington Avenue, (314) 367-1076. The exhibition will remain on view until November 14.
