Take advantage of these warmer days and treat yourselves to a visit to all 4 Central West End galleries, which have held opening events over the past month. There is such a variety of work on view, including cowboys. abstracts, portraiture, and a contemporary take on Tarot Cards.
In and Of at Philip Slein Gallery:
There was a homecoming of sorts at Philip Slein Gallery as Eva Lundsager, a former St. Louisan, who has shown her work with the gallery for the past 15 years, and Cecily Carew brought their paintings to St. Louis from Boston.

In an article in the Boston-based journal Misstropolis, the gallery’s curator Jim Schmidt, explained that In and Of presents two abstract painters, two generations, two diverse approaches to media, two moods, yet with such similarities that it seems as though each could have produced the other’s oeuvre had she have come from a different time and place or might have somehow emerged from the other’s body, mind, and soul.”Gallerist Philip Slein, middle above.
Artist Joan Marie and her husband were dressed as colorfully as the paintings.
