Families in winter coats and hats began lining up at the gate to Kennedy Park 15 minutes before the 4 p.m. start of 2023’s Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 1. By 4:15, all 1250 eggs had been scooped up, including a few Golden Eggs with gift certificates to CWE businesses.
The event, organized by Dan Boccabella of CWE Families & Friends, is an annual affair, or was until it was put on hold for 2 years during the pandemic. The event resumed in 2022.
Approximately 75 people including 40 children from the neighborhood joined in the festivities. The Easter Bunny, far left, made an appearance and posed for selfies.
Dan Boccabella mentioned that he is looking for volunteers to help with activities for CWE Families & Friends. In addition to the Easter Egg Hunt the group organizes a “Clean up Kennedy Park Day” a week before the Easter event, and would host more activities if there were more volunteers. And many thanks to sponsors of the event, The Central West End Association and the CWE North Community Improvement District.
And Happy Easter.
