Though last Saturday’s Boowood at Bowood party was the 9th year Bowood Farms hosted its annual pre-Halloween fete, the clever staff did a stellar job making the event seem as fresh and new as the first time. Creative decorations were sprinkled throughout the yard, and fun activities kept the kids, and their parents, happy and busy.
Staff member Kathie Hoyer, above, built this year’s Boowood theme around the phrase: “Once upon a time.” She printed photos of dragons and knights and glued them to cardboard which hung from evergreens. She also made fairy princess ghosts with flower crowns that floated on shrubbery adjacent to the outdoor dining area, see first photo.
Hoyer’s scavenger hunt had the kids running all over the grounds searching for clues. At the end of the hunt, there were goody bags for all.
Bowood’s Nathalie Baldeon was chief face painter for the afternoon.
Staffer Yvonne Hamilton was in charge of pumpkin painting.
Most of the Most of the 50-plus children in attendance dressed in costume.
If you haven’t had a chance to pick up your Halloween pumpkin yet, there are still many shapes and varieties of pumpkins scattered about Bowood Farms, 4605 Olive Street.
And finally thanks again to the McPheeters family and staff of Bowood Farms for being such wonderful and generous neighbors. We are all so fortunate your shop is in the Central West End.
