There was something for everyone at Friday night’s 1st Local Social of the 2015 season. Kids seemed partial to the hula hoop performer alongside the Maryland Plaza fountain, above, and a magician at the corner of Euclid and Maryland. All the entertainment, which also included musicians, jugglers, artists, and a green screen photo op provided by GoodEye Photo Share, was sponsored by CWE-North Community Improvement District.
Another hula hoop artist, Dianne Akins, entertained diners beside the patio at Evangeline’s at Euclid and Washington Avenues.
A fire juggler (in red shirt with black vest) performed next to Gringo at the corner of Euclid and McPherson Avenues.
During the evening, pedicab rides were available throughout the neighborhood.
Watercolorist Marilynne Bradley, whose paintings are featured on CWEA House Tour posters was showing her art next to The Silver Lady. Information about this year’s House Tour, which takes place May 28 to 30, featuring the houses of Pershing Place, can be found here.
CWEnder Hannah Roth was one of Henry Ptasiewicz’s subjects Friday evening. The artist, who has been a regular at Local Social events, was sketching next to Libby’s, 4742 McPherson.
28th Ward Alderman Lyda Krewson and Mike Owens are shown above.
This next series is an example of why it’s so much fun to bring a camera to these events. To the left, a cluster of Iron Rockets who were headed to Llewellyn’s; in the middle, electric guitarist Jason Simmons, and to the right a view into Selkirk’s new location at 4739 McPherson (formerly Arlene Lilie). Selkirk’s Interim Director Shane David Hall is shown left, Specialist and CWEA board member Bryan Laughlin, middle, and Shane’s partner Nic Roca, right. Selkirk’s first auction is scheduled for the end of June (more on this later).
While the scene in the previous photo was unfolding, a bridal party walked up to the restaurant at the same time as the Iron Rockets. They then seemed to hesitate, unsure whether to continue in or not, see below.
What’s in your wallet? A magician, above and below, beside Gamlin Whiskey House at the corner of Euclid and Maryland Avenues.
The DeBoo, Fischer & Patino Trio entertained alongside Coffee Cartel at Maryland and Euclid Avenues.
Thanks to the Community Improvement District for another great event. Don’t miss the next Local Social scheduled for Friday, June 12. Check the CWEScene website for more information.
