Look for signs of construction at 304 N. Euclid (formerly Ivy Hill) for Canadian-based Kit and Ace, slated to open in June. The retailer of luxurious, relaxed clothing was founded by the wife (Shannon) and son (JJ) of lululemon's Chip Wilson. Currently, there are six Kit and Ace locations in Canada and two in the U. S. (New York and San Francisco). While there are plans to open 50 additional stores in 2015 worldwide, the fact that one of them is in the CWE is fabulous news, and quite a coup.
All styles, such as the Haven Tee for women and Grand Crew for men, are made of Technical Cashmere, a washable material "sourced from happy goats living in both Mongolia and Inner Mongolia, China." Kit and Ace is big on getting involved in the local community. For instance, each location features The Wall, showcasing work by local artists. And stores "partner with local vendors for all in-store events, whether that is the brewery around the corner or a restaurant offering the best in local fare."
St. Louisan Nicole Benoist, former style editor of St. Louis Magazine and director of the downtown's Collective at the MX (now shuttered), will be store director of the CWE's Kit and Ace. Read more about it in St. Louis Magazine.
While you're waiting for the opening, check out Kit and Ace's interesting and fun website. I think you'll agree this will be a great addition to the neighborhood.
