Whether it was the glorious day or that word has gotten around, there was an even better turnout for the second CWE Flea! The photo above was taken just as the market opened. The beautiful fall urns left were part of Chateau sur Mer Mer's selection of goodies.
Unfortunately I was not able to get as many photos as I would have liked on Saturday (wearing the organizer's hat). I especially regret not having photographed Parkers Table's bright yellow vehicle (see lower right below) when it was laden with olive oil, delicious pesto, honey and fresh-from-the-oven ciabatta loaves. Isabel, who manned the cart for Jon Parker, called the shop for more loaves (no fishes) as the morning progressed.
Native Pops was back with a new selection of handmade popsicles, Torta Bella pastries and Theresa Wangia with her fantastic Beltshazaar Jewelry was there again too!
Hannah Wingate who creates "FlyChicks" bags shared a booth with her sister Carrie (both shown above) who brought lovely "Carrariums" (terrariums) to the market.
There was a flurry of activity as the vendors set up for the 9 a.m. opening. That's Jennifer Walker in the middle organizing her jewelry display and to the left, Meredith Tabscott arranging her children's clothing made from upcycled fabrics.
Kristen Kempton was back with her hand printed, handmade knit pieces and pillows. Her boyfriend Peter brought retro radios, clocks, etc.
Hasina Starks created handmade soaps, scrubs and shea butter products and brought them to the CWE Flea for the first time.
Kristen Southworth was back with fresh produce and gorgeous flowers from her Illinois farm, Shiloh Hill Hens.
Jen Cullom-Guss (not pictured) was new to the CWE Flea on Saturday and brought a great selection of handmade jewelry and accessories she finds at estate sales or thrift stores, and as she says, "gives new life to" with clever embellishments. She'll be back October 19.
Beth Styles (not pictured), who opened Parsimonia on S. Grand two weeks ago, was able to tear away from the shop Saturday to bring her trailer "Holly" back to the CWE Flea. Charming Holly was stocked with clothing for adults & children and great vintage handbags too!
Christiane, above, is pictured in her booth with her beautiful selection of handmade jewelry.
Petree Powell (not pictured) was at the CWE Flea for the first time with a collection of antiques and repurposed furniture. Her writing desks were snapped up early, the prices were so amazing. And the Farrell children with their dad Porig occupied themselves in Petree's booth trying on her selection of chairs for size.
There were many families who stopped by on Saturday and even more people brought their dogs (we must have more dogs per capita than any other neighborhood!). Bella, above, was "Best in Show" as she arrived via motor scooter. You met her last week when I posted the photos from Local Social IV.
Thanks to everyone who came out, shopped and visited, or just enjoyed the experience. We were thrilled with the turnout and the vendors were too. See you again on October 5th and 19th!
