Terrie Robbins recently sent the following note to her friends. She very kindly (she knows I am oh so busy putting last minute touches on the CWE Flea to spend much time on the blog) is letting me share it with you this morning. You may remember the post that I did on Terrie and Arnie's "eclectic" garden (see it here).
From Terrie:
"Many of you know that I love birds although I'm not what you call a' birder.' I don't have the bird list and don't check them off. But I
do love them and try to identify ones that I see.

When
Arnie and I moved down from Minnesota, I experienced a whole new set of
birds I have not seen before. One of them is the Common Nighthawk.

Every
fall since we have been here they migrate through St. Louis and love
the CWE. Last night there were back!! They are known for their
incredible aerial acrobatics! They fly in the evening, often over the
Chase, in fantastic circles, dives and what seem to be spins! They also
like the lights at the Tuscan Lodge. Last night right in front of our
house!!!

So if you are out and about tonight and the next couple, do look
up. They are a wonderful bird…. and the American Bird Assocation's 2013 Bird of the Year."
