In a departure from the usual garden shot posted on Sundays, I've decided instead to toast Bastille Day with a photograph of an assortment of French macarons and an espresso I enjoyed Friday morning at Crepes, etc., 52 Maryland Plaza. The macarons are made in-house in flavors that include blueberry, raspberry, pistachio, dreamsicle, and chocolate,

While enjoying these two-bite confections and a picture-perfect morning, I reread a couple of chapters from a favorite book, Paris Was Ours. I can't remember if someone recommended the book or if it just caught my eye while browsing the shelves at Left Bank Books. Penelope Rowlands edited the collection of essays by thirty-two writers who recount their experiences while living in the City of Light. It's a delight, and so were the macarons. Enjoy your Sunday.
