Unlike my usual announcements heralding the arrival of a new boutique or restaurant in the CWE, this one is about a church! You may already be aware of LIFECHURCH through a direct mail piece sent to the residents of 63108/10 zip code. If not, here's the scoop: The Fenton-based church, being led by Pastors Josh Shelton and Matt Heck, above, is opening an urban campus in rented space at The Mahler Ballroom*, 4915 Washington. LIFECHURCH's first service at this second location will be on Easter Sunday morning at 10 a.m.
Pastor Heck said that LIFECHURCH chose the CWE because of its diversity. Founders of the thirty-year-old church had a vision to reach out to the city, and through prayer God is leading them to start a second location in this neighborhood. Community outreach is a big part of LIFECHURCH's ministry, which the pastors would like to implement here. They have reached out to nearby churches–Trinity Episcopal, Second Presbyterian, and Cornerstone Baptist Church–to introduce LIFECHURCH and the possibility of working together to complement the work those churches already do in the neighborhood.
The CWE campus will open with a team of 50 to 75 members from LIFECHURCH's congregation of 800, who have chosen to make the new location their church. Coffee & refreshments will be served from 9:30 to 10, childcare is available. Everyone is invited to attend.
LIFECHURCH is holding a "meet and greet" for anyone interested in learning more about the church at Applebee's on Forest Park & Euclid tomorrow night, Thursday, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Key volunteers and leaders will be in attendance, refreshments will be served.
LIFECHURCH at the Mahler Ballroom, 4915 Washington, 10 a.m. Sundays, (314) 843-5575.
*The Mahler Ballroom is not changing its stripes–just on Sunday mornings–so it is still available for wedding receptions, parties and dance lessons.
