The StrEATery launched Friday evening as restaurants that border Euclid set up socially-distanced tables in the street. Patrons enjoyed an evening out and businesses adapted to limited seating capacity requirements during the pandemic. As word of the event spread, every table in the StrEATery zone was filled on Saturday night.
This was the signage that was positioned at the entrance to each section.
As I snapped photos from Maryland to McPherson (next weekend the area will stretch to Washington), my impression was that diners seemed absolutely delighted to be engaging in something that seemed almost ordinary. As a neighbor observed: “It’s so good to see the neighborhood full of life once again.”
StrEATery will continue on Fridays and Saturdays from 5 to 10 p.m. as long as it is safe to do so. That decision, which will depend on the degree of compliance with established guidelines, will be evaluated weekly. To stay in the loop follow the CWEScene website.
Starting the weekend of August 7 & 8: Streatery will expand its footprint to include Cocina Latina and Evangeline’s at Euclid and Washington.
Starting Friday, July 24, restaurants and bars in the Central West End are expanding their patios into the street to increase operations and provide a safe dining experience this summer. These “streateries” will be open along Euclid Avenue on Fridays and Saturdays from 5-10 p.m. All operations will be carried out in alignment with guidance from the City’s public health officials. Social distancing guidelines will be in place and masks will be required at all times when social distancing is not possible. There will also be additional hand washing stations at the ends of each dining section for patrons.
During these times, the following sections of Euclid Avenue will be closed to traffic:
- Euclid North of McPherson to the first alley
- Euclid South of McPherson to the first alley
- Euclid North of Maryland to Carriage Lane/the first alley North of Maryland (5-10 p.m. only)
Maryland, McPherson, and all alleys will remain open. Adequate pedestrian clearance will be required on the sidewalks and participating businesses are required to follow ALL city guidelines for operating at this time. The CWE’s North Community Improvement District will ensure that the street is opened back up each night by 10:30 pm. More info about the program can be found here on CWEScene website.
