In case you missed the art gallery openings in the CWE last Friday evening, here are some photos for you to peruse. The current exhibitions will remain on view for varying periods ranging from early December to the end of January. See details below.
Most CWE galleries will be open at least part of this holiday weekend, so if you’re looking for something to do to entertain out-of-town guests or family, you might consider stopping in and checking them out.
Houska Gallery is featuring the work of John Salozzo, and a “pop-up explosion” of objects from artists Tony Cray, Gregg Rasmusson, Kate Walter, Amela Cikota, Mark Pack, Zack Smithey, and Jeff Kapfer.
Houska Gallery, 4728 McPherson Avenue, is open Friday through Sunday from 10 to 5.
Music, which always provides a spark of festivity, was provided by a talented guitarist stationed in front of Duane Reed Gallery for the evening.
Duane Reed Gallery is exhibiting John Garrett’s True Obsessions, above and below, until December 9. The proprietor of the gallery is shown in the distance above left.

The Spirit of Abstraction, a group show at Philip Slein Gallery, 4735 McPherson Avenue, will be on view until December 22. The exhibition features artists Jackie Saccoccio, Alison Hall, Louis Cameron & John Zinsser among others.
Philip Slein Gallery is closed for the Thanksgiving weekend and will reopen Tuesday, November 28.
A forklift could maneuver only so far into the entry to projects + gallery, 4733 McPherson, so that’s where Christine Corday’s extremely heavy Elemental Metal was placed, above. The artist’s work, titled SPACEWALKER/ +43F 14.7p, will remain on view until January 20.
The Hudson Valley-based artist, top photo, is shown wearing one of her SPACEWALKER designs. Bottom photo: The SPACEWALKER series is available as a work of art to exhibit on a lighted fold bar, above, or to wear jetting around town—or the world, $900 to $2300.
A backroom at projects + gallery holds a selection of SPACEWALKER’s in a variety of fabrics, such as the 1st one above left in crystal vinyl plastic, $2000 ($2300 with fold bar). Price includes matching cap, shown middle photo, and booties, lower right.
projects + gallery will be open Saturday from Noon until 4 p.m.
