Some people who attended the annual 4th of July Family Parade Tuesday, sponsored by the Central West End Association, mentioned that it is one of their favorite neighborhood events. I couldn’t agree more. And for as many years as I have been taking photos of the parade, it never gets old.
Hats off to CWEA board member Kate Walter, left, and director Jess Batchelor, right, for organizing such a stellar parade. CWEnder Bridget Collins was also one of the organizers. She is pictured further along in this post.
Some of the parade-goers, who gathered at the corner of Euclid and McPherson Avenues for the 10 a.m. start, are shown above and below.
CWEnder Tim O’Connor led the parade playing parade music from his vintage Mustang. He was followed by police officers with the Mounted Patrol.
Circus Kaput performers participated once again, above.
CWEnder Bridget Collins, above left (in black dress), contributed to the success of the 2017 parade.
The Honorable Lyda Krewson, Mayor of the City of St. Louis, was one of the bystanders.
The parade ended at the Maryland Plaza fountain where there was ice cream, compliments of jeni’s, and a magic show & balloon art by Circus Kaput performers. In addition, firemen from Engine House 28, who were on call for the duration of the parade, stayed around so children could take a turn behind the wheel of the massive firetruck. See following post for more photos.
