It's anyone's guess where the holiday pop-up shop that we've come to love and expect will surface each year. The mere mention of the shop with no official name – "scarf, hat & glove" shop, or simply "you know…that pop-up shop" has been enough to get people excited about its arrival for the past five, or is it six? years (see 2010 post here).
The shop gets around – it's been located in vacant storefronts on Euclid (several times), on Maryland Avenue (in the space where Starbucks has since expanded), and Pershing Avenue between Union and DeBaliviere. In a sign that the local economy is humming along, finding a vacant space to set up shop for six weeks has not been easy this year.
So it was a pleasant surprise to learn that a) CWEnders Bea and Wade Crowder are back running the shop!!! and, b) the 2014 "Sample Sale" will open this Saturday in The Vino Gallery, 4701 McPherson at 11 a.m. An opening celebration at 6 p.m. benefits Siteman Cancer Center's Bosom Buddies, Friends for Life. See poster below for details.
The Vino Gallery is also the new home of another pop-up shop, indie mats, co-owned by CWEnders Emma Hand and Brooke Williams, see window display above. Starting Saturday you can wrap yourself in a new scarf (at a very reasonable price), pick out a nice bottle of wine to toast the approaching holidays, and choose an indie mat for your family photo – all at The Vino Gallery, 4701 McPherson.
